Dani Pedrosa has undergone stem cell surgery on his right collarbone and is expected to be out of action for three months to recover from the operation.
Pedrosa had been set for testing action with KTM in Sepang this week but last month confirmed he would be absent requiring surgery on a right collarbone fracture.
The two-time world champion and newly-inducted MotoGP Legend opted for stem cell surgery due to his numerous previous operations and breaks which had weakened the bone’s regrowth.
Pedrosa has undergone a successful stem cell operation in Barcelona performed by Dr. Robert Soler and Dr. Lluis Orozco who stabilised the fracture before bio-grafting stem cells to the collarbone. The Spanish rider will now begin a three-month recovery period.

“At the moment, my mind is set on overcoming the current situation to continue working on the development of the KTM,” Pedrosa said. “Much to my regret, I have not been able to participate in the pre-season tests in Malaysia, but I am following closely the work of the KTM Racing Factory. I hope to be with them soon on the track.”
Pedrosa made a private test debut for KTM at Jerez last December aiming to help focus its development and testing programme for the pre-season tests in Malaysia and Qatar.
But Pedrosa, who retired from racing at the end of last season, will miss all pre-season testing for KTM with the target of returning at the in-season tests this summer.
Fellow KTM test rider Mika Kallio returned to action at both the Sepang Shakedown and this week’s official MotoGP test following his recent knee injury. The Finn was joined by regular riders Pol Espargaro and Johann Zarco (both Red Bull KTM Factory) plus Hafizh Syahrin and Miguel Oliveira (both Red Bull KTM Tech3).
