Miller: Main goal is factory seat

It's no secret that Jack Miller has his sights set on securing a factory Ducati team ride for the 2020 MotoGP season.

With Andrea Dovizioso on a two-year Ducati contract, and Miller's rookie team-mate Francesco Bagnaia not looking ready to step up from Pramac, that effectively means a head-to-head between Miller and current factory rider Danilo Petrucci.

So far it's a close contest.

Petrucci is fifth in the world championship, just one point above Miller, but with the Australian beating the Italian in the two races he has finished after the seat problem in Qatar, culminating in a debut Ducati podium in Austin.

"For sure my main goal is to try and secure a factory seat. I’d love it to be a Ducati," said Miller, who like Dovizioso and Petrucci has the latest GP19 motorcycle.

"I feel we’re doing a good job this year so far at qualifying every time. Both races I’ve finished, I’ve finished in front of him [Petrucci]. It’s been a good year so far, but we’ll wait and see.

"Normally the last couple years I’ve always started the season out strong and let’s say around Mugello the wheels have kind of fallen off again. Hopefully this year we’ll be able to keep them on and keep the ball rolling."

Petrucci's seat in the only factory team ride potentially up for grabs for 2020, with all other official riders signed until 2021.
