Bradl gets Repsol Honda call-up

Stefan Bradl will compete in his home German MotoGP for Repsol Honda this weekend, after being confirmed as a replacement for the injured Jorge Lorenzo.

Lorenzo fractured two vertebrae during practice at Assen last Friday and will be sidelined until after the summer break.

Bradl, HRC's European test rider, finished tenth as a wild-card at Jerez earlier this season, using the new RC213V frame with carbon fibre covers.

His best Sachsenring results are second place during a title-winning Moto2 campaign in 2011, then fourth place as a full-time premier-class rider in 2013.

"I'm very excited to join the Repsol Honda Team in Germany," Bradl said. "It's a special race for me as my home race, obviously I am very sorry for Lorenzo and I wish him the fastest recovery possible and to come back strong.

"I am glad to be able to help the team and HRC, let's see what this weekend brings. We have been working well with Honda and I am grateful to them for this opportunity."
