Irvine: Schumacher "useless" at bike racing

Former Ferrari team-mate lays in to seven-time F1 champ

FORMER FORMULA ONE star Eddie Irvine has stated he thinks Michael Schumacher was "useless" at motorcycle racing.

The multiple F1 World Champion Grand Prix came under fire from former team-mate Irvine following his kamikaze manoeuvre on Rubens Barrichello at last weekend's Hungarian GP.

Having already described Schumacher as a "spare pr**k at a wedding" over his occasional appearances in pit lane during last year's F1 season, the Ulsterman wasn't holding back on his views of the German ace.

"Michael took his gamble, and it's backfired a bit," said Irvine. "But he's making money, he's back getting noticed, and people are talking about him again.

"When he was doing motorcycle racing he was useless. That didn't make sense at all."

Schumacher raced in a number of low-key events in 2008, but retired from the sport after sustaining a serious neck injury in a crash at Cartegena, Spain.
