Honda Racing reveals stealthy looking 2020 BSB contender
Honda Racing has pulled the covers of the CBR1000RR-R SP that the Irwin brothers hope to take to the top in this year’s BSB
HONDA Racing has pulled the wraps off its 2020 CBR1000RR-R SP that it hopes can recapture glory in the British Superbikes Championship.
The machine is a stealthy looking affair, moving away from the tricolour HRC paint scheme of previous campaigns. Instead, the race bike’s paint is based on that of the road-going sibling which can be bought in the same Pearl Black colour.
Honda CBR1000RR-R SP review
With minimal sponsorship showing on the machine, Honda is sticking with Castrol and Akrapovič for 2020, with Close Brothers Finance also coming along for the ride in 2020. A new sponsor, and one that has close links with Honda UK, is Datatool, who’s logo can now be spotted tucked up on the rear undertray.
The latest generation of Honda’s famous Fireblade is going to be campaigned in 2020 by Glenn and Andrew Irwin in BSB, and Tom Neave and Davey Todd in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship.
The 2020 racing season has been hit hard by the global COVID-19 pandemic, with most major racing series falling by the wayside as events got cancelled and postponed. Thankfully, the BSB season looks to be very close to getting underway, with the first round scheduled for Donington Park on the 7, 8, and 9 August. From there, the BSB circus moves to Snetterton (21-23 August), then to Silverstone on the national circuit. Should COVID-19not have another hand to play in the 2020 sporting season, the racing should end at Brands Hatch on the GP circuit – 16 18 November.
