Danny Kent will not race in this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship round at Cadwell Park following his conviction for carrying a knife.

The 2015 Moto3 World Champion, who only made his BSB debut last month, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court for possessing a knife in a public place.

Kent admitted having a kitchen knife in the West Street car park in Tetbury, Gloucestershire on March 7, whereby he was involved in an altercation with a 63-year-old man [click here for full story].

After achieving modest success in Moto2 in the years following his Moto3 title win, Kent made his BSB debut riding a Bike Devil Sweda MV Agusta F4 RR at Snetterton and came close to scoring points for the first time at Thruxton two weeks’ ago.

However, Kent will not be welcomed back into the Bike Devil MV Agusta team

"Danny was today given a suspended sentence by a magistrates court and we cannot condone criminal activity of any nature,” Bike Devil MV Agusta UK team principal Dave Tyson said. “He has been released from any further obligations he had with us.”

Ex-World Supersport racer Gino Rea has appeared in his place at Cadwell Park. The former WorldSSP race winner competed in BSB last year for OMG Suzuki.

Kent’s conviction marks a low for a rider whose Moto3 win made him the first British rider to win a World Championship GP title since Barry Sheene in 1977.
