BSB Silverstone Test Results [Combined] | Bridewell edges Skinner to top test

Tommy Bridewell hit the top of the timesheets as the second pre-season 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB) concluded, ahead of Rory Skinner.

Tommy Bridewell sprung to the top of the timesheets as preparations for the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) continued at Silverstone for the second of three pre-season tests.

The Oxford Racing Products Ducati rider comes into the 2022 BSB season on the back of his best BSB campaign of the 12 seasons he has contested, finishing runner-up to champion Tarran Mackenzie on the McAMS Yamaha.

Looking to go one better in 2022, Bridewell consolidated his status as one of the title favourites with the best lap time in the second test of the pre-season around the shorter Silverstone National.

The Devizes rider shrugged off windy conditions to edge out Rory Skinner by just over a tenth on the FS-3 Kawasaki ZX-10RR, the youngster appearing to have made a stride ahead of his second season in the ‘big bike’ ranks.

A double winner at Silverstone during his rookie 2020 BSB campaign, Kyle Ryde tapped into that impressive form once more on the RICH Energy OMG Racing entry, ahead of fourth place team-mate Bradley Ray, as they continued their shift from BMW to Yamaha machinery.

Rounding out the top five was Glenn Irwin on the Honda, ahead of iForce BMW racer Dan Linfoot and top Suzuki rider Christian Iddon.

Leon Haslam looked stronger on the VisionTrack Kawasaki than he did at Snetterton with the eighth best lap, while fellow WorldSBK exile Tom Sykes found himself a long way off the top three he managed on his return to the series aboard the MCE PBM Ducati in Norfolk, the 2013 World Champion only 19th fastest on this occasion.

Meanwhile, defending champion Tarran Mackenzie is facing a race against time to be on the grid for the 2022 BSB opener next weekend after crashing heavily once more injuring his ankle - this time on the right - with a high-speed off at Woodcote.
