Metzeler has announced a new rear enduro tyre designed specifically for extreme enduro conditions.
The new tyre from Metzeler, called MCE 6 Days Extreme Extra Soft, is available in the 140/80–18 70M NHS size and features a tread compound which Metzeler says is “designed to guarantee maximum performance in extreme conditions from both a technical and environmental point of view, therefore effective even in very low temperatures.”
The construction of the tyre has also been designed to deform in a consistent manner across the tyre, which Metzeler hopes will make it an accessible tyre also for less experienced riders, as well as the high-level competition riders the tyre was primarily designed for.
Metzeler has given the MCE 6 Days Extreme Extra Soft tyre three white stripes on the tread in order to make it distinguishable from other tyres in the range, while a new layout of the tyre’s knobs is designed to offer good performance “even at high lean angles,” Metzeler says, as well as reduced wear and greater durability.
Additionally, the compound of the tyre is new, and based on 100% Carbon Black. Designed for resilience, the compound rubber is “capable of absorbing deformation energy,” Metzeler says, while it also has a wide working temperature range.
The MCE 6 Days Extreme Extra Soft was developed through Metzeler’s involvement in the FIM Enduro and FIM Hard Enduro World Championships and with manufacturers such as KTM, GasGas, and Honda.
Metzeler says: “Although they were designed for Enduro and Extreme Enduro World Championship riders, the MCE 6 Days Extreme tyres are also suitable for enthusiasts of the discipline who want to equip their motorcycles with high-performance tyres that make traction, versatility and resistance of the knobs their strengths.”
