Peugeot set for change of ownership after "irrevocable offer” made
German investment fund Mutares, which currently owns Peugeot Motocycles, is set to hand the company over to its current management.

Peugeot Motocycles is set for a major ownership change as the company itself will soon take over from current owners Mutares, which says an “irrevocable offer” has been made.
It means Peugeot will go back to its roots of sorts, as it will once again become French-owned. This follows a fairly chaotic past few years for the brand, as in 2015 Indian giants Mahindra bought a 51 per cent stake in the company.
Prior to Mahindra assuming ownership of the brand, and even for some years after that, Peugeot was heavily focussed on its scooter models, rather than motorcycles.
Even today, the manufacturer, which does sell some small-capacity bikes, has a much wider range of scooters that are available in the UK.

Peugeot Motorcycles, after eight years of Mahindra ownership, was bought by German investment fund Mutares in 2023.
While at the helm, Mutares played a key role in Peugeot’s acquisition of DAB Motors, which was “a step towards expanding its presence in the premium and electric motorcycle segment”,according to Mutares.
Fast-forward to March 2026, and Mutares says an “irrevocable offer” from Peugeot Motocycles’ management will see the French company take over ownership duties in the second half of 2026.
Johannes Laumann, CIO of Mutares, said this about the upcoming ownership change:
“We are confident to now place Peugeot Motorcycles in the best possible hands for its next phase. The team has developed a clear and compelling plan for the future of the business and has demonstrated strong execution capabilities during our ownership. We believe the management team is ideally positioned to further develop the brand and successfully implement its growth strategy.”
