Litre sportbikes don’t get much better looking than this

Yamaha YZF-R1 60th Anniversary Edition | BIKE OF THE WEEK

YAMAHA’S YZF-R1 burst onto the world stage in 1998, it too the best bits of the YZF1000R, lost a shit load of weight and caught the rest of the motorcycle world napping.

Fast forward to 2015 and Yamaha Motorcycles is celebrating their 60th anniversary, and the R1’s birthday card was this stunning, Kenny Roberts inspired ‘Speed Block’ paint job.

Alongside the paint and 60th anniversary decals, the bike is fitted with a sleek looking Akrapovic end can and sexy gold wheels.

When new this bike was £15,749 which at first makes the £13,900 price tag look a bit steep. I look at it a slightly different way; that this bike seems to be a depreciation dodger and if kept in good nick, will probably start appreciating in years to come.
