HONDA UK has released a video on social media showing the new-for-2020 CRF1100L Africa Twin being ridden off-road prior to the press launch in a weeks’ time.

The launch event for the machine is to take place in Sardinia in about a week’s time, which is where we think the video has been shot.

There are a multitude of changes to the new Africa Twin range for 2020, to start with the engine has been increased in size to 1084cc, boosting peak power by 7% and torque by 6%. To add to that, the new bikes all feature new riding modes, IMU controlled traction control and ABS and wheelie control.

Both versions of the Africa Twin feature a DCT option, which has been made lighter, with the new 1083cc DCT engine being 2.2kg lighter than the outgoing model.

There is also a first for the Africa Twin in the form of its top-spec Adventure Sports model now available with Showa’s Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (EERA) and is linked into the bikes IMU.

The changes mean the bike now joins the like of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, BMW’s R 1250 GS and Ducati’s Multistrada 1260 Enduro in being a full electronically supported adventure machine.

Both machines also feature revised bodywork, designed to give better weather protection for rider and passenger. They also have a new styling ethos, bringing the Africa Twin concept bang up to date.
