54 years 9 monthsThe ultra-exclusive special edition Aprilia RSV4 X is being rolled out to ten lucky buyers, with the manufacturer’s former World Superbike Champion Max Biaggi and Aprilia Racing MotoGP rider Andrea Iannone among the recipients.
Revealed during a special Aprilia All Stars event in March, the RSV4 X is a definitive version of the iconic V4 machine, which bridges the gap between racer and road model and has been targeted at “special enthusiasts” only.
Among those ‘enthusiasts’ is brand ambassador Biaggi, who secured two of Aprilia’s three WorldSBK titles in 2010 and in 2012. The Italian rode the Aprilia RSV4 X in March and immediately placed an order.
“Tackling the corners at Mugello astride the RSV4 X is always a fantastic thrill!,” he said. “On this bike, the sensations are exactly like those of a racing bike and, as soon as I got on it, I felt like I had never quit racing.”
Only ten of the RSV4 X machines – which is based on the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory base – are being manufactured as a celebration of the Noale racing department’s Superbike success, with another of the bikes heading the way of Iannone, who along with Aleix Espargaro represents the manufacturer in the MotoGP World Championship.
All ten were sold out within hours of it hitting the track at Mugello in March.
Aprilia RSV4 X Technical Specifications
With a dry weight of 165kg and the tuned 1078cc V4 unit generating an impressive 225HP – up from the standard 217HP - the Aprilia RSV4 X is a lightweight, honed and refined machine aimed at highlighting the base RSV4 model’s agile and powerful traits.
Unique to the RSV4 X is a lightweight fuel tank, a racing panel from which to adjust the electronic controls, billet aluminium details – such as the clutch leveer and front brake guard – Marchesini forged magnesium wheels and mount Pirelli slick tyres.
It is all finished off in a recognisable and distinctive black, red, green and pink livery that echoes the team’s Aprilia RS-GP MotoGP machine.
The Aprilia RSV4 X also features a world first “ANN system (Aprilia No Neutral)” system, a SBK and MotoGP-inspired gearbox with neutral positioned below first gear that speeds up shifting from first to second and prevents any up-shifting errors.
Aprilia is also claiming the braking system is a world first with its Brembo GP4-MS billet callipers, which act on a pair of steel discs with T-Drive technology and are controlled by a 19x16 billet radial pump.
