BMW to release new S1000F sports-tourer?

New sports-touring machine may appear at shows as early as this year

BMW may have plans to release a new sports-tourer based on the S1000RR sports bike platform.

The tip-off comes from German motorcycle magazine Motorrad who say the new bike may appear at motorcycle shows as early as this year.

The new model is said to feature dynamic damping control, a ride-by-wire throttle with different fuel maps, ABS, and traction control. It will likely share the engine found in the S1000R - the naked version of the S1000RR - that has been tuned for more torque over almost the entire rev range.

The tentatively named S1000F will also feature ergonomic changes to improve rider comfort over long distances.

The S1000F looks to be aimed squarely at Kawasaki’s Z1000SX.
