THE rumours were right, and the wheels of development were turning behind the scenes at America’s oldest motorcycle company. The result is the launch of the Indian Scout Rogue, the most aggressive and performance-focused Scout model to date.

Gone is the easy-going demeanour and glossy finishes of some of the other scout models, instead, the Indian Scout Rogue is a blacked-out roadster, festooned with matt finishes and moody branding. The edgy appearance is boosted by a quarter fairing, mini ape-hanger handlebars, sport style seat, blacked-out fenders and valve covers, and a 19-inch front wheel complete with a low-profile tyre.

The rest of the chassis including the frame, suspension and so on all remain as per the current Scout range – although that’s not to say the riding experience will be the same. With its low-profile, 19-inch front tyre, the Rogue is likely to be a much sharper steering proposition on a twisty B-road.

Engine-wise, the new Indian Scout Rogue uses the same engine and powertrain as the Scout and its two Bobber variants. That means it has a liquid-cooled, 1,133cc V-twin engine that produces 71lb-ft of torque and 94hp.

Speaking about the new Indian Scout Rogue, Aaron Jax, Indian Motorcycle Vice President, said:

“For so many motorcyclists, riding carries a rogue spirit – a bold statement of freedom and individuality that brings riders together – and Scout Rogue delivers that in spades … It’s an attitude that can only be found on a motorcycle, and it creates a totally unique level of camaraderie and community, and that’s what Scout Rogue is all about.”

As you’d expect from any self-respecting cruiser, the Indian Scout Rogue will be swaggering into the dealership with a full complement of off-the-shelf bolt-on accessories, including two-up seats, an auxiliary tacho, and adjustable rear shocks to complete the west-coast ‘tall bike’ look.
