THE pinnacle of Harley-Davidson ownership comes in the form of the CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) models that crown the firm’s Grand American Touring range.
They are bold and brash, yet phenomenally comfortable well equipped. Although as we are about to find out, all that does come at a cost…
Before we get to each model though, each of the bikes in the CVO family is gaining the updated for 2022 117ci (1,923cc) Milwaukee-Eight engine. It’s an oil/air-cooled V-twin, with four valves per cylinder and it produces a claimed 105hp and, in CVO trim, 126lb-ft of torque – the rest of the updated 117 Milwaukee-Eight models boast 125lb-ft.
Harley-Davidson CVO range technology
Another common theme across the bikes is the use of extensive technology and rider assistance systems. Harley calls it Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements... snappy name. In simple terms, it is a collection of electronic aids that are designed to make riding on sub-optimal surfaces and in bad weather a little bit safer.
The system comprises Cornering Enhanced Electronic Linked Braking (C-ELB), Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS), Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS), Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS), Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Other standard features of the CVO-badged machines are the inclusion of Rockford Fosgate audio systems, Daymaker Adaptive LED lighting, wireless headset technology, and all the factory-custom style and detailing you’d expect from the real king of the road.
Previously the CVO’s would see an uplift in capacity that set them apart from the rest of the range. That changes in 2022, and customers who live by the ‘Ain’t no substitute for ‘cubes’ mantra, will be eyeing up one of the aftermarket upgrade kits to get their fix.
