CCM Motorcycles secures new investment, now looking to expand operations

It’s been 50 years of CCM this year, and for a British manufacturer with humble beginnings from founder Alan Clews garage in Bolton, they’ve got even more to celebrate this year - namely a significant investment from North-West based investor Pitalia Capital.

This influx of funds will help CCM continue their upwards trajectory, able to now hire 14 more staff and expand the factory to provide the infrastructure to explore a ‘pent-up demand across Europe and beyond’.

The recruitment drive is hoping to secure senior management staff as well as design engineers, programme managers, and procurement & production assembly staff (plus finishing, PDI & logistics).

If you get a job with the Bolton-based marque, do we get a finders fee? Probably not. But if you fancy applying, give us a mention…!

In any case, this investment will provide the foundation for new models and European homologation, so we can safely expect to see a range of new machines on the horizon. Don’t expect them to stray from their current formula though, the press release distinctly mentions a continued focus on developing customer-focused artisan motorcycles, and will continue to be their core product and business focus. So no CCM branded electric scooters anytime soon.

As well as the great successes from the Spitfire range in recent years, the range of bobbers, scramblers, flat trackers and Carl Fogarty tributes have proved successful on the market.

Commenting on behalf of CCM, Austin Clews has said:

“I am so proud of my father’s achievements here at CCM. It’s been a true family affair, with three generations involved in driving the brand through its competition days towards becoming a well-known British icon in the world of bikes. We are really excited about the next stage of our journey which will see a new ambition to take CCM into international markets.”

Whilst managing partner of Pitalia Capital, John Davies, said:

“CCM is a British manufacturing success story with a rich heritage and despite increased competition from overseas in recent years, the company has continued to buck the trend and bring fantastic, innovative motorbikes to market.

“CCM bikes are an incredibly emotive creation, and the passion in the products and the people of this business is something that has clearly shone throughout our discussions. Our immediate investment priority is to our current and loyal customer base. It is so important for CCM to forge and maintain personal relationships with our customers. We look forward to investing heavily in this area to their benefit.

“I’m also looking forward to working in partnership with the Clews family and our plan is to invest in all areas of the business, providing the financial and strategic springboard to bring this unique brand to the international stage. We are extremely excited about the opportunity ahead.”
