Honda has officially opened a brand-new motorcycle production facility in Turkey, as the Japanese giant looks to strengthen its grip on one of Europe’s fastest-growing powered two-wheeler markets.

Located in Aliağa, Izmir, the new site becomes Honda’s 38th motorcycle factory globally and is already up and running after production began in April 2026. Initially the plant will be capable of building 100,000 motorcycles per year, although Honda says that could eventually double to 200,000 units if demand continues to rise.

The move is a fairly sizeable statement of intent from Honda, especially given that Turkey has quietly become one of its strongest European markets. The brand topped the country’s motorcycle sales charts for the 11th year running in 2025, helped by growing demand for affordable personal transport and commercial delivery bikes – such as the PCX125 you can see in the lead image.

Honda says the factory will employ around 300 people directly and has been designed to improve local production, shorten supply chains and increase manufacturing flexibility. The facility itself covers 100,000 square metres, with 45,000 square metres dedicated to indoor production space.

Hans de Jaeger, President and Director of Honda Motor Europe, described the factory as “a strong expression of our confidence in the market” and said it would contribute both to Honda’s global production plans and Turkey’s industrial growth.

Honda Türkiye President Satoru Yamada added that the project reflected Honda’s “long-term vision” for the country and stressed that success would be measured by the value the factory brings to local communities, not just sales figures.

Alongside production, Honda says the site has been developed around its wider environmental targets, while local social projects, including traffic education programmes and reforestation initiatives, will also continue alongside the factory’s operations.
