History nerds will be aware that the 2025 Honda Adventure Roads therefore effectively takes on a journey from the beginning of the story of Ancient Rome, and the founding of the Roman Kingdom in the eighth century BC, until the collapse of the Byzantine Empire and the rise of the Ottomans in 1453. Then, the Ottomans conquered the Byzantine capital of what was then called Constantinople, after its founder, the Roman Emperor Constantine I, who moved the capital of the Roman Empire to the city during his 13-year reign which lasted from 324–337 AD.

In a contemporary context, participants on the 2025 edition of Honda Adventure Roads might be slightly concerned to think about that the Ottoman Empire’s effective barrier between Russia and the Mediterranean was one of the triggers for the Crimean War, as Russia looked to take advantage of a weakening Ottoman Empire to gain access to the Med’.

Anyway, we’d advise trying to not think about the implications of a similar offensive from Russia on Istanbul were it to happen in 2025 while making your way there from Rome, a journey which Honda says will take participants through eight countries.

The 2025 edition will follow this year’s, which finished as next year’s was announced, and took 30 riders over 2,800km through the varied landscapes and terrains of Morocco.

Honda has already opened registration of interest for the 2025 edition, although it hasn’t yet said how many participants it will be taking next year. You can sign up on your regional Honda website. For UK riders, you can head here.
