HONDA has this week launched the ‘RC30 Forever’ parts scheme that will see 150 genuine parts covering the engine, chassis, bodywork, and electronics all available from a Honda main dealership.

The ‘RC30 Forever’ programme began after meetings with RC30 owners’ clubs in Japan and Europe, during which the owners expressed their strong desire to keep these legendary sports bikes on the road. But it isn’t just as simple as re-popping spares that might not have been in production for two decades!

Many of the original hand-drawn 2D technical drawings don’t hold anywhere near the amount of detail and data that a modern computer-generated design does. Before Honda begin producing any of the parts required, they first had to digitise the original blueprints, compare them to existing parts borrowed from owners, and then talk to original team members from the RC30 project.

The news though will be a lifeline for RC30 owners, many of whom will know first-hand how difficult it is to source good, reliable parts for these highly desirable motorcycles. It also means that RC30 models that have, until now, been deemed too far gone to warrant restoring, can once again find their way back onto the streets to continue the legacy of one of the most famous motorcycles Honda ever created.

Sales will begin in Europe from May 2021 and will vary depending on the part, and any updates will be added to the Honda website. Sales will be subject to limited stock availability for all parts.
