Get in depth with GasGas' SM 700 and ES 700 street bikes

GasGas has released a video explainer of its two new street bikes, the SM 700 and ES 700, after they were released at the end of April.

GASGAS ES 700, GASGAS SM 700

GasGas launched its first two road-legal bikes at the end of April, with the SM 700 and ES 700.

The two bikes are variants by the Austrian-owned Spanish brand of the KTM 690 SMC R and 701 Enduro/Supermoto Husqvarnas, as we wrote last month.

Featuring the same 692cc single-cylinder as the Austrian and Swedish bikes, and pumping out 74 horsepower, the motor of GasGas’ first street bikes is certainly established. Its KTM affiliation also offers benefits in suspension, with the SM and ES 700s both being equipped with 48mm WP forks.

Now GasGas has released a video to take you in-depth with its ‘super singles,’ which you can check out below.

GasGas’ asphalt expansion could be a sign of more things to come for the Spanish brand, but off-road remains its primary area, for now at least. Jorge Prado and Simon Laengenfelder have both won Grands Prix in 2022, Sam Sunderland won the Dakar Rally in January, Justin Barcia collected multiple 450SX podiums between January and May, Michael Mosima won his first 250SX Main Event in San Diego, and it would not come as a total surprise if either Barcia, Mosiman or the third GasGas rider in America were to challenge for podiums outdoors this summer.

Additionally, Mattia Guadagnini has made a strong turnaround for his season in MXGP after moving up to the premier class. His season started poorly with bad luck and mistakes hampering his MX2 form in his second full season as a GP rider, but a switch for the MXGP of Sardegna has proven fruitful for the Italian, who has gone into the MXGP class and become instantly a top six-to-eight rider on the 450.
