Former World Superbike, MotoGP and BSB star, Sylvain Guintoli, has set an unofficial record, after he finished the London Marathon, running in full motorcycle leathers, in a time of three hours, 47 minutes and 47 seconds.

Guintoli ran the marathon in memory of his son, Luca, who tragically lost his battle with cancer last year. So far, Guintoli has managed to raise more than £148,000 for the charity PASIC. Pasic was, according to Guintoli himself, “there from the beginning for our Luca and our family”, and those looking to donate to the cause can still do so on the official website.

Speaking during a segment during TNT Sport’s Jerez MotoGP coverage, Guintoli said:

“Hello guys. That’s it. The London marathon is wrapped up.

“I got my medal. I did it under four hours as well. I’m so happy. It was so hot, though. It was absolutely dehydrating.

“I loved it. The atmosphere was buzzing. I wanted to say a massive thank you to everybody at TNT, and also everybody who’s been donating.

“The fundraiser has gone absolutely mental, and it’s going to make such a difference for children with cancer. So, thanks again everybody."

The last officially recognised record for running a marathon in motorcycle leathers went to David Smith, who completed the London Marathon in 2018 in a time of four hours and eleven seconds.

You can still donate to Guintoli’s fundraiser on the official London Marathon website.
