Motorcycle sales are up by more than 16 per cent so far in 2026, with April seeing more success for major segments in the UK.

Motorcycle sales grew by 18.7 per cent in April compared to the same month in 2025, with the adventure, naked, and sport-touring segments all playing a pivotal role.
Leading all ‘big-bike’ sales was the ever-popular BMW R1300 GS, which sold a total of 104 units, according to the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA).

But the R1300 GS is one of many adventure motorcycles that has played a role in the segment continuing its strong results compared with the same time period in 2025. In April 2026, a total of 2,054 adventure bikes were sold in the UK, which is 248 more than the same month last year.

That’s an increase of 13.7 per cent, while the segment is also up by 23.4 per cent year-to-date. Naked motorcycle sales were up by 9.3 per cent in April, helping the segment grow to 14.1 per cent year-to-date.
The second-highest performing motorcycle segment in April 2026 was the sport-touring category, which achieved growth of 26 per cent compared with April 2025. Sport-touring sales are up by 15.1 per cent so far this year.
Speaking about the continued upward trend, CEO of the MCIA, Tony Campbell, said this:
“With the new financial year well underway, April’s figures present an optimistic picture. The clear growth in registrations seen this month is not only welcomed but is further evidence of the important role our sector is playing in practical, affordable mobility as well as leisure and lifestyle choice.
“However, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to be a source of challenge for our industry and the sector hopes to see a continued ceasefire leading to a reduction in fuel prices that will undoubtedly help to support market stability as well as renewing consumer confidence.”
