274kg BMW R1200GS gets some air!

Was the bike drop really necessary?

DURING Motorcycle Live last week, BMW decided to showcase the R1200GS by lifting both wheels off the ground.

Whilst the underwhelming jump was hardly over a double-decker bus, the bike does weigh 274kg... So what can you expect?

However, possibly the most eye-opening part of the video is the rider's celebration as he decides to drop the bike... Let's hope this was to demonstrate how to lift the bike up later on.

Following Triumph's recent Tiger Explorer video, it looks like the big manufacturers are eager to show their off-road capabilities:

The bike drop shows you that the GS is tough and is meant to be ridden off road. The first thing they get you to do on the GS off road course is to stop the bike and then pick it up.
