Book: Motovudu - Dark Art of Performance

Everything you ever needed to know about track riding with Simon Crafar.

I first met Simon Crafar twenty one years ago in Malaysia. Our paths have crossed many times since and while he has always been polite and funny I never underestimated him as a very aggressive racer.

Those days are long gone but unlike many ex racers he still loves riding any bike, anytime and anywhere. Most recently I’ve worked alongside him instructing with Focused Events where he’ll ride every session all day long and still be cracking jokes at tea time.

And this enthusiasm hits you straight away when you open his new book, Motovudu - Dark Art of Performance. Every aspect of track riding is explained and illustrated in a way that is simple to understand no matter what your level of ability or experience.

Simon talks you through everything in his own way so it’s not like reading a manual, plus, as he’s been there and done it all there is no bullshit attached. You won’t fall asleep reading either as the text is brief and illustrated  with simple diagrams and images of Simon in action.

The book is backed up with a DVD that starts with great footage of his post race life with friends in Andorra before getting into demonstrating riding techniques chapter by chapter. A little part of me is gutted as I’ve known for a while there’s been an opening for this type of performance riding guide but I’ve either been too lazy or lacking the bottle to do anything about it. Read this over the winter and come out fighting in the Spring!
