The Tucano Urbano El’Kid motorcycle helmet grows as your child does
The new helmet from Tucano Urbano answers one of the biggest problems parents of young bikers have.

As a father, I know well the pain of spending hard-earned cash on riding kit and clothing for my daughter, only to see her grow out of it again within a matter of months. Be it riding boots, gloves, or her motorcycle helmet. Kids grow fast. It’s just a shame that riding kit and safety gear doesn’t do the same.

Well, until now, that is, as the clever people at Tucano Urbano have come up with the El’Kid, a jet-style motorcycle helmet that quite literally grows while your child does.
And while that statement might have you imagining a helmet with vastly complex mechanical systems built into the shell, the solution that Tucano Urbano has come up with is actually incredibly simple.

The business end of the lid is the internal liner, or, should I say, ‘liners’. Included with the helmet are three interior sizes which, Tucano Urbano claims, allow the helmet to “follow their growth”. The Outer shell, which is a thermoplastic polycarbonate material, is a one-size-fits-all deal. The magic is all about the liner.

Clever interior aside, the El’Kid boasts ECE 22.06 certification and features a micrometric quick-release closure system. It also features a large, centrally mounted, closable air intake, along with a rear-mounted exhaust.
The new helmet comes in three colours: Gloss White, Matt Light Blue, and Glossy Pink. It’s also priced at wallet- (or pocket money) friendly €69.99 (£59.64).
More information about the El’Kid is available on the official website.
