209bhp Kawasaki land speed bike pops up for sale

A supercharged Kawasaki ZH2, which achieved an average speed of 202.243mph over one mile on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, has popped up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. 

The bike is being sold by American racer Dylan Hughes, who rode it at the land speed event in 2024. Hughes has made several modifications to the motorcycle, including an Airtech streamline body kit, a new steering damper, and a fully stainless steel Brock’s Performance exhaust.

The streamlined body kit you see in the photos is often preferred by land speed racers, as it helps with the aerodynamic efficiency of the bike and the rider.

A few other changes were also made to this Kawasaki ZH2, which resulted in the bike achieving 212 hp on the dyno, which converts to around 209bhp. 

According to the seller, the bike has currently done less than 750 total miles - 500 of those were ‘break-in’ miles. 

Given its low mileage and performance levels, it’s likely to be a cheaper alternative than buying a new bike, and then making a plethora of changes for high-speed racing. 

The bike is up for sale with a price of $26,000, which is roughly £19,350 at current exchange rates. Although you’ll need to travel to Costa Mesa, California, if you want to buy it. 

The bike was used as a project for a publicity stunt by Hughes, which he claims was all about trying to reach speeds of over 200mph, saying:

“I achieved a 202.243 average speed over a mile on the Bonneville salt flats in 2024. This was a project we used for a publicity stunt with a partner on my race team.

“200mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats was a long-time goal of mine, if you share that same goal, this is your perfect opportunity, this is the cheapest you can possibly do it. This bike is turn key and ready to go to the salt flats tomorrow.”
