BMW increases motorcycle sales in Europe

BMW has revealed its end-of-year motorcycle sales figures for 2025, with Europe largely responsible for its success.

For the fourth consecutive year (2025), BMW has achieved over 200,000 motorcycle sales worldwide, with 118,814 of those sold in Europe.

That means the European market was responsible for more than 50 per cent of the German company’s overall sales, which totalled 202,563.

BMW says Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Portugal, Canada, Malaysia, and the Netherlands all sold more BMW motorcycles in their countries than ever before. Not on that list was the UK, which is of no real surprise given the fact that all new motorcycle registrations were down 19.4 per cent in 2025, compared to the year prior.

BMW also ended 2025 on a high, selling a total of 15,109 motorcycles in December alone, which is the third‑best December in its history.

Its home nation remained the best-performing single market for the brand worldwide, with 25,516 motorcycles sold. In Europe, that was followed by France with 19,019, Italy (16,692), and Spain (14,005). The USA (14,869), Brazil (14,488), and China (10,555) all made solid contributions, too.

BMW did not make reference to how many motorcycles were sold in the UK last year, as part of its press release, but it did provide some of the numbers behind which individual bikes performed best. BMW sold 33,570 units of the R1300 GS Adventure and 32,555 R1300 GSs.

Those two bikes often topped the UK’s monthly adventure sales segment, highlighting their popularity on both our shores and worldwide. Not too far behind was BMW’s S1000 RR, with a total of 11,643 motorcycles sold globally.

In terms of its sport-based M range, BMW’s M1000 R, BMW M1000 RR and BMW M1000 XR accounted for 28,408 sales.

Shifting its focus on to 2026, BMW said this about its plans:

“The objective is to further strengthen its leading position in the global premium motorcycle segment. Customers and fans can again look forward to numerous highlights, events and emotion‑filled offers around motorcycling this year — including the market launch of the new BMW F 450 GS in [the] spring and the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy in autumn in Romania.”
