World Superbike confirms new Assen schedule
World Superbike organisers announce a revised Assen schedule following the cancellation of Saturday’s race one
World Superbike championship organisers have announced the revised Assen schedule following the cancellation of Saturday’s race one due to poor weather conditions.
As snow and rain hit Assen during World Supersport qualifying, track action was suspended ahead of the schedule World Superbike race one. Despite attempts to start the race the snow intensified which forced organisers to cancel the opening race.
Following a programme reschedule, World Superbike’s new sprint race has been cancelled and replaced with the full distance race one, while race two retains its usual start time.
World Superbike race one will take place on Sunday starting at 11:00 local time, followed by the World Supersport race at 12:15 and World Superbike race two at 14:00. The World Supersport 300 race also retains its 15:15 start time.
Weather forecasts for Sunday at Assen point to a dry and slightly warmer day.
Starting grid positions for both World Superbike races will be taken from qualifying, seeing Alvaro Bautista on pole position, which effectively means a return to the previous weekend race format last used in the 2015 season.
