Sylvain Guintoli - Suzuki GSX-R1000R

We are BIG fans of Sylvain Guintoli.

The Frenchman is one of motorcycle racing’s genuine nice guys, as approachable off the track as he is superbly fast on it.

He’s also one of the most experienced peddlers out there now having traversed a career that began in the grand prix ranks and took him all the way to MotoGP for two seasons, to the British Superbike Championship – earning him honorary Brit status – and over to WorldSBK, where he was crowned champion in 2014.

Since then Guintoli has become a talisman for the Suzuki brand as development rider for its MotoGP programme and has been credited as the riding force behind the manufacturer’s return to winning ways at the highest level.

Still an active MotoGP rider in a handful of races each year, Guintoli remains as sharp as ever at 37-years old as you can tell in his latest series of videos on YouTube where he takes a stock roadgoing version of the Suzuki GSX-R1000R from his own home to UK circuits to proves how fast one can be on a machine you can buy.

So far, he has posted three videos to his new channel, including a lap of Donington Park – a circuit he knows better than any other – where he posts a best lap of 1min 37.50s. As a reference point, pole position for Scott Redding on the tuned, sticky-rubbered at October’s 2019 BSB round was a 1m 28s.

He has also posted Oulton Park, with one fitted with a360 degree cameras for effect.

If nothing else, it’s a great chance to get to know one of the most personable people in motorsport (and his family). So, turn the volume up and enjoy!
