Lanzi replaces Laconi at DFX
Regis Laconi still recovering from 2009 Kyalami smash, says team
FOLLOWING HIS near fatal crash at Kyalami last season, Regis Laconi is to be replaced by Lorenzo Lanzi as the lone rider for the DFX Ducati team, in the 2010 World Superbike Championship, the squad has announced.
A three-time WSB race winner, Lanzi said of his 2010 opportunity:
"I am grateful for Daniele Carli and DFX Corse for this project, which will see me racing as sole rider of the team, in the 2010 Superbike World Championship," he said. "Last year I only did a few races with them but I could see that the team was a professional one. The knowledge that I am taking part in the entire championship allows me to tackle this commitment with the right frame of mind as well as with a desire to re-emerge once again.
“I am sure I still have something to show at an international level and on the DFX Corse Ducati 1098R I've got another chance, maybe the last one, to show what I am capable of. A big thanks to everyone who made this possible and now I leave for Australia fully motivated."
The 2010 World Championship kicks of in just over two weeks time at Phillip Island, Australia, on 28th February.
