The Isle of Man TT Races has announced two parade laps for the 2023 event, with the return of the Legacy Lap and a demonstration lap for Charlie Williams.

Legacy Lap

The Legacy Lap returns for the 2023 Isle of Man TT, offering the chance for fans to ride the Snaefell Course on their own motorcycle, with thousands expected to take part, according to an Isle of Man TT Races press release.

The Legacy Lap will take place on Sunday 4 June before the beginning of the first six-lap Superbike race.

The lap will begin at 09:30, with the pit lane open from 09:00 for any riders wishing to take part in the Legacy Lap.

Charlie Williams Demo Lap

Secondly, Charlie Williams will complete a demonstration lap of the famous Snaefell Course on Saturday 3 June on a 350cc Maxton Yamaha two-stroke.

The bike is a replica of that on which Williams set a 112.348mph lap, a 350cc record which stood for eight years, on his way to finishing in third place, behind Alex George and Mike Hailwood, in the 1979 Classic Race.

Williams took a total of 20 Isle of Man TT podium finishes during his career, a number which is currently matched by two of the primary stars of contemporary racing on the Isle of Man: Peter Hickman and Dean Harrison.

Of Williams’ 20 podiums, nine saw him stand on the top step, and 2023 marks 50 years since his first triumph in the 1973 Production 250cc Race.

Both the Legacy Lap and the Charlie Williams demonstration lap join the recently announced sidecar parade lap among the demonstration and parade laps of the Snaefell Course that are scheduled for the 2023 Isle of Man TT.
