54 years 8 monthsMOTOGP TITLE CONTENDER Jorge Lorenzo threw away his only real chance of winning the 2009 championship at Phillip Island yesterday, when the Fiat Yamaha rider crashed out of the 27-lap race on the opening bend.
The Spaniard, keen to make a good start after a poor qualifying session, clipped the back of Nicky Hayden's Ducati at over 120mph.
Both riders left the track: Hayden stayed upright, Lorenzo did not.
See the incident in the above video.
