VIDEO: Lorenzo crashes out of Oz GP

See the opening corner carnage from Phillip Island

MOTOGP TITLE CONTENDER Jorge Lorenzo threw away his only real chance of winning the 2009 championship at Phillip Island yesterday, when the Fiat Yamaha rider crashed out of the 27-lap race on the opening bend.

The Spaniard, keen to make a good start after a poor qualifying session, clipped the back of Nicky Hayden's Ducati at over 120mph.

Both riders left the track: Hayden stayed upright, Lorenzo did not.
