One of the UK’s most enduringly successful and versatile racers, Plater’s racing career spanned more than decades and saw him enjoy notable success in both short course and road racing.
British Supersport Champion in 2009, Plater has also collected four victories at BSB level before embarking on a decorated stint on the roads, scoring two wins at the Isle of Man TT together with victories on the North West 200 and Macau Grand Prix.
Now retired, Plater will now move into team management under the hire of TAS Racing owner Philipp Neill.
“I’m relishing the task of managing the SYNETIQ BMW Motorrad effort on site this season in BSB,” Plater said.
“They were always the main opposition throughout my racing career, so I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.
“The goal for me is to bring the best out of the whole team this season and also help Andrew and Danny achieve their British Superbike Championship dreams.”
The Synetiq title-backed TAS Racing outfit, which competes as BMW’s official factory supported effort in BSB, features an unchanged rider line-up of Danny Buchan and Andrew Irwin for the 2022 season.
