Quad Lock Handlebar Mount Pro gets adjustable head for those hard-to-reach handlebars
Quad Lock’s new Handlebar Mount Pro Adjustable lets riders change the phone’s tilt and rotation to suit high bars and raked-out forks.
If you ride a cruiser or tourer with high handlebars, you might have noticed that getting your phone into a useful viewing position isn't always straightforward.
Quad Lock reckons it has the answer with its new Handlebar Mount Pro Adjustable, which adds a fully adjustable, tilting head to its existing motorcycle phone mount.
The problem comes from the combination of high-rise handlebars and steeply raked forks. Even when the mount is fitted correctly, the phone can end up at an awkward angle, often with the screen facing almost skyward. That obviously makes looking at the screen and following navigation apps a little tricky.
The new mount is designed specifically to address that, with a single-bolt system allowing both the tilt and rotation of the phone to be adjusted.
The head can tilt through up to 80 degrees and rotate through 360 degrees, while the mount is designed for bikes with between 30 and 45 degrees of fork rake and 4 to 12 inches of bar rise - basically making the system ape-hanger-friendly.
Quad Lock says the adjustment uses preload tension to hold the position while you set the angle, with the supplied Allen key used to lock it down once you're happy.
The mount itself is made from CNC-machined, anodised aluminium with black stainless-steel hardware. It retains Quad Lock's existing dual-stage locking system and can be reversed so the phone sits lower and more in line with the handlebars.
It fits handlebars measuring 22mm, 25mm, 28mm, 32mm and 35mm, and weighs 130g. There's also discreet cable routing for riders using one of Quad Lock's charging options.
There's no need to replace an existing setup either. Owners of a Handlebar Mount Pro or Large Handlebar Mount Pro can buy the Adjustable Arm Pro separately and add the new adjustment system to their existing mount. Quad Lock says it also remains compatible with its Vibration Dampener, Anti-Theft Screw Kit and charging accessories.
For now, the adjustable version is aimed at Tourer and Cruiser motorcycles. Quad Lock says Adventure, Roadster and Sport versions will follow.
