Alpinestars and Marc Marquez have released their latest collaboration collection, with riding gear as well as casual apparel.
Marc Marquez has been dressed in Alpinestars for as long as he has been a World Champion, and while he has not been on the MotoGP grid since the Italian Grand Prix two months ago, he still commands almost as much attention as the rest of the MotoGP grid combined.
His relationship with Alpinestars as a manufacturer of protective gear is especially prominent compared to other riders and their leathers (etc.) sponsors, because of Marquez’ style, his frequency of crashing, and the way he uses his body to save situations which would have been unrecoverable for most riders.
For Alpinestars, the relationship is fantastic. Or, at least it was until Marquez ran into his latest injury problems - even Marc Marquez is less use as an advertiser when he is in the hospital with his arm in a sling rather than on the race track.
But, despite Marquez’ absence from Grand Prix racing in recent weeks, there has still been the opportunity to create a new ‘Alpinestars X Marc Marquez’ collaboration collection.
For 2023, there are a range of products including a track jacket; a waterproof jacket; riding shoes; riding gloves; and casual apparel from backpacks to hoodies.
2023 MM93 TRACK LEATHER JACKET
Made from bovine leather, the 2023 Alpinestars MM93 Track Leather Jacket is usable both with and without the top-level Alpinestars airbag system: Tech-Air 5. There are also vents, a detachable thermal liner, and Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Pro protectors. It is available from $569.95 (around £470).
2023 MM93 AUSTIN V2 WATERPROOF JACKET
Next we have the 2023 Alpinestars MM93 Austin V2 Waterproof Jacket, which “features an advanced poly-fabric main shell for high levels of tear and abrasion resistance,” according to Alpinestars. Additionally, there is a fully-seam-taped waterproof membrane, and a removable thermal liner as well as Nucleon Flex Plus protectors in the shoulder and elbow areas. There is also the option to upgrade the chest and back protection to Nucleon. This jacket is available from $259.95 (around £210).
2023 MM93 AUSTIN KNITTED RIDING SHOE
The first of the two Alpinestars MM93 riding shoes is the Austin Knitted Riding Shoe which “is constructed from a lightweight, durable microfiber chassis and comfort-giving interior mesh,” according to Alpinestars. It is designed for flexibility, comfort and performance, as well as safety, and will cost $189.95 (around £150). There is also a non-knitted version for $169.95 (around £140).
2023 MM93 ARAGON GLOVE
The Alpinestars MM93 Aragon Glove is, despite its name, designed to be an 'urban' glove, for city riding. It offers abrasion resistance through its synthetic suede palm, and impact protection with hard covers on the knuckles. There are also comfort benefits, such as the slim wrist section, which is designed to fit inside the sleeve of a jacket. The Aragon Glove will cost $38.95 (around £30).
2023 MM93 LOSAIL V2 GLOVES
The Alpinestars MM93 Losail V2 glove is slightly more believable for urban riding, in terms of its name. It costs $18 more than the Aragon at $56.95 (around £45), and features reinforcement on the palm for increased grip, padding on the fingers, and a tab on the wrist to make it easier to pull over your hand.
