New Charley Boorman Film Goes Live: Azores Untamed – The Ride Between Two Continents
The film features Charley Boorman and Paul Guillien as they trek through the Azores mid-way between their two home continents

Charley Boorman may be famous for teaming up with Ewan McGregor for the Long Way series, but he’s been back in the saddle for a new adventure.
This time, he’s teamed up with Touratech USA boss Paul Guillien for ‘Azores Untamed – The Ride between two continents’, a 32-minute motorcycle travel film set in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
It premiered on Touratech's official YouTube channel on May 30, and it follows the unlikely duo as they explore São Miguel, the largest island in the Azores archipelago. For those who haven’t been there, it’s a volcanic outpost, marooned between Europe and America.

Boorman, the globe-trotting ambassador of all things ADV, brings his signature spontaneity to the ride. Guillien, the strategic mind behind Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR), represents the calculated, map-loving side of the same two-wheeled coin.
Despite the island’s modest size (It’s just 60km long and barely 10km wide in places), Azores Untamed is anything but small in ambition. Think gravel trails, slippery fords, mist-covered mountain roads and enough twisties to keep even the most jaded GS pilot on their toes. Add in the Azores’ famously unpredictable weather (locals say ‘if you don’t like the weather now, give it five minutes’!) and it’s clear this is no glossy tourism piece.

What Azores Untamed offers instead is something far more engaging: a philosophical deep dive into what adventure motorcycling means to different riders. Whether you're the kind of rider who plans every waypoint or the one who just twists the throttle and hopes for the best, there’s something here for you.

Filmed by Stefan Klabunde and Canan Gündogan, the movie showcases the island’s raw natural beauty, from jagged coastlines and rainforest-clad hills to sleepy fishing villages and pastel-hued Baroque towns. But the real story is the dynamic between Boorman and Guillien, though, as two riders, with very different styles, discover a shared passion on unfamiliar ground.
