There's no denying that the current Thruxton is a proper stunner. Chances are the new RS will keep this aesthetic with a few stealthy additions.
For the time being, the Thruxton’s ‘high power’ performance is represented by the ‘R’ model, which is [currently] equipped to the highest specification. It has a racey rider position, taller tail end, smaller grips and a whole host of premium equipment, which includes:
Twin floating Brembo discs
Brembo monobloc calipers and master cylinder
Showa USD forks
Öhlins rear suspension
Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres.
The 1200 R kicks out 96hp and 107Nm of torque from its liquid-cooled 1200cc parallel-twin motor and comes in at a price of £12,400.
What will the Triumph Thuxton RS feature?
So, what can we expect from the RS? For certain, better hardware and a higher price tag. Ohlins will likely replace the Showa front and rear units; The engine will be re-tuned [possibley with high lift cams], and if we’re lucky the end cans will be aftermarket. It appears that much of the panelling will remain the same, but a new stealthy colour scheme will be available.
We suspect the RS will feature a super cafe racer styled bubble fairing, similar to that featured on the stunning carbon fibre Thruxton TFC. In short, the RS will bridge the gap between the ‘R’ and ‘TFC’. At least that’s what we suspect…
What do you think the new Thruxton RS will feature?
