Moto Guzzi California in Miami

Geographical mix up?

MOTO GUZZI seems desperate to show everyone the new California 1400 individually without actually releasing much in the way of official pictures or information.

Coming after the leaks from the firm's European dealer meeting a month or so ago, when endless camera-phone shots revealed most of the bike's details, the firm has been showing the Cali to its American dealers at an event in Miami. Even Max Biaggi got in on the camera phone action, posting a picture of himself astride a California.

In terms of information, we don't know much more than we did after the European unveiling. The engine is the firm's long-awaited all-new twin, in 1400cc air-cooled form (there are rumours that a water-cooled version also exists) and the bike appears to be seriously long and low. As for that headlight? It's not going to be to everyone's taste, that's for sure – we're guessing those are LED running lights at each side.

Weirdly, given the fact the bike has been shown in America, the prototype appearing there wouldn't be legal in most states – there are none of the mandatory side-mounted reflectors (usually seen on the fork legs of American market bikes) and we're not sure but it looks like the indicators are probably too small.
