KTM 390 Adventure gets new spoked 'big wheel' for 2023

The 2023 KTM Adventure range has gained its fifth model, with the entry-level 390 Adventure getting a spoked refresh for the new year.

The 2023 KTM 390 Adventure has been announced, with spoked wheels coming to the entry point to the Austrian brand’s adventure range.

The biggest change for 2023 on the KTM 390 Adventure is the arrival of spoked wheels. The spokes sit within black-anodized aluminium rims which have a diameter of 19 inches and 17 inches at the front and rear, respectively.

As for the 373cc single-cylinder engine, the specifications remain unchanged compared to previous versions, with a DOHC configuration, EFI, 44 horsepower and 37Nm. Additionally, it features two catalytic converters to meet Euro5 standards.

Other features on the bike include a ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, cornering ABS, an ‘Offroad’ riding mode that allows more rear wheel slip and reduces ABS intervention, and a five-inch TFT display.

Being a KTM, it is hardly a surprise to see the retention of a steel trellis frame for the 2023 390 Adventure, or that WP supplies the suspension - from the Apex line, to be specific, with adjustable rebound, compression, and preload.

Adventure riding is also not limited to a solo effort thanks to the 390 Adventure’s two-seat saddle, while the windscreen is height-adjustable, the brakes come from Brembo’s Bybre (320mm front disc with four-piston calliper, 230mm rear).

Finally, KTM has completed the refreshment of the 390 Adventure for 2023 with an updated colour scheme, which KTM says comes from its “racing background”.

The 390 is the latest of five bikes in KTM’s 2023 Adventure range, after the 1290 Super Adventure S, 1290 Super Adventure R, 790 Adventure, and 890 Adventure

One of the more controversial features on the 790 and 890 versions was the ‘Demo Mode’. That does not seem to be present on the 390.
