We’ve just been dealt a huge teasing hand, as Honda (finally) confirms the NT1100 is due for a grand reveal on the 21st of October.
Honda has been subtly teasing something coming for the last month or so, and we’ve all been scratching our heads wondering what could be around the corner - a new Transalp? A new CBR650? Well, we’ve rounded that corner and been met with the behemoth that is a new and updated NT1100.
Have a watch of the teaser below, see if you can make anything out, and we’ll reconvene below to discuss further.
Lovely stuff, right? Classical music playing, picturesque landscapes (is that… the Canary Islands?) and a few fleeting glimpses of the metal that’s self-dubbed as bringing a new era to the touring market.
It’s a true teaser in that we see very little until the reveal in over two weeks time, but so far we can gather this:
- It’ll have the Africa Twin 1100cc powerplant, a parallel-twin unit that will no doubt have a few other parts in common from the adventurer. We get a quick look at the two-screen display setup, and it’s likely the big tourer will get the famous Honda DCT option.
- Honda will expect this to compete with big tourers on the market - the BMW R1250RT (a hugely popular machine), the Kawasaki 1000SX Ninja to name but two - and establish itself on the market as a solid seller.
- It’s set up with a big screen and luggage, and billed as a two-up tourer. Standard stuff, but good to see it confirmed as the bikes’ market.
We’ll have to hold our horses there, though. Official spec and stats will be on the way, and we’ll have to look forward to the press ride in a month or so before knowing exactly what’s what.
