Honda ADV 300 scooter tipped for EICMA show debut

The success of the Honda X-ADV and Asia-only Honda ADV 150 means a Honda ADV 300 range expansion is on the way to Europe

Honda’s ADV scooter range looks set to grow yet further with talk the Japanese manufacturer is working on two more mid-sized variants of its popular go-anywhere run-around, one of which is set to come to Europe.

The ADV adventure range kicked off last year with the launch of the Honda ADV 750, an off-road orientated, grown-up take on the humble scooter that has won plaudits for its cross-country abilities and sharp styling.

The positive reception subsequently resulted in the launch of the Indonesia-market only Honda ADV 150 in July, which shares a cosmetic relation to its big brother, albeit in a more city-focused package.

Honda ADV 300 coming to Europe

As predicted by Visordown, the ADV range is set to grow further now with talk of both a 250 and a 300 version being in the pipeline. The former will satisfy the Asian markets – and probably get a Tokyo Motor Show bow in October – before the latter arrives at EICMA in Milan for us Europeans.

Though the Honda ADV 300 is likely to bear a closer relationship with the ADV 150 in sticking to city-bound abilities, we can expect the same muscular tapered styling with an attractively well-executed attempt to bring some sporty design traits to market. LED lighting and digital displays will give the ADV 300 a more premium feel than most machines in the same bracket.

Utilising the venerable 279cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled four-valve motor, the ADV 300 can be expected to generate 25.1PS at 7,000rpm and 27.2Nm at 5,750rpm.

A huge sales success already

A growing ADV themed range is hardly a surprise to anyone paying attention to the sales charts.

The Honda X-ADV 750 ended 2018 as the seventh best selling motorbike in Europe, doubtless vindicating those who fought to get the concept of a tough scooter style model out to market despite hesitance from Honda’s big bosses.

Moreover, Honda Indonesia is reportedly having to ramp up production to keep up with demand for the Honda ADV 150, such has been the positive response from consumers.

Honda is used to writing success stories, but this could become one of its most significant…
