Ducati Panigale 1199 | Bike of the week
Ducati’s 1199 was a game changer when it came out, and still kind of is.

54 years 8 monthsOKAY, the V4 does trump the 1199 for sheer power, riding gizmos and the number of pistons but, the fact the V4 exists is the reason the old 1199 is now such good value!
And it’s not some archaic brute from the past either, the engine is the frame, 195bhp, 188kg, ABS, riding modes, thing has more processing power than Johnny 5! I remember the first time I saw one in the flesh, and having to fight my way to the front of a throng of people at the NEC bike show, I was absolutely struck dumb by the awesomeness of the thing. Nobody thought the boys from Bologna could get near the 916 for styling but, I know it’s a marmite design, I think they did.
This example is a three-owner bike that’s covered 14k and is listed for £10,995 – I’m pretty sure if you turned up with £10k in cash the forms would be signed quicker than you can say superquadro.
