Isle of Man: Serious incident at Senior TT

A racer taking part in this year's Senior TT race has been involved in a fatal accident at the 26th Milestone of the mountain course, killing two spectators.

It appears the collision took place on the Mountain Section and involved four other people. The rider, who died instantly, has been officially named as Marc Ramsbotham. Two spectators were also killed. One died at the scene and the other was pronounced dead on arrival at Nobles hospital. Authorities have yet to release the victims' names. The two other spectators involved in the incident have also been admitted to hospital.

The tragedy throws a dark cloud over, what was, a successful centential TT. In 2005, racing journalist Gus Scott was killed on lap two of the Senior TT when he was involved in a collision with a TT marshal in Kirk Michael village, a notoriously high-speed section of the 37-mile course. The marshal was later deemed to be at fault.
