Clinton escort death sparks trouble for Police

Lewisville Police to disband motorcycle patrol

THE DEATH of a motorcycle policeman in Dallas whilst escorting a Hillary Clinton cavalcade last week has had serious consequences on neighbouring police departments in Texas.

Although Lewisville Police Department officials say they have been
discussing eliminating their motorcycle officers for years, the events of last week prompted them to action.

In the last six years it is claimed that Police motorcycle related accidents have cost the City of Lewisville $40,000.

The Department has a total of four motorcycle officers, who will be allowed to take one last ride, when they attend the funeral service for Officer Lozada.

Last year another local force, the Flower Mound Police Department disbanded their motorcycle program because of safety and cost. Currently Dallas Police Department hasn't made any changes to their motorcycle program.
