YAMAHA’S YZF-R1 got a remake and update this weekend, with tweaked styling, updated ride-by-wire throttle and improved ABS. Our friends across the pond got a first glimpse of the machine at the Laguna Seca round of the World Superbike Championship this weekend, with the British biking public able to see the bike in the flesh on the 20th July!

Marking the new bike's announcement, Yamaha is taking the machine along to the Snetterton round of the British Superbike Championship for a celebration of all things R1!

The European debut of the iconic machine will be held in the Yamaha Village, based in the paddock on the approach to Agostini corner, and will feature a collection of pristine Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycles, from a mint, original ’98 model, through to the latest 2020 version.

Yamaha is also offering R1 owners the chance to grab some cut-price tickets for Sunday’s racing, down from £35 to £23.80, although numbers are limited with just 200 available to the public. McAMS Yamaha will be supplying a replica of their BSB contender for punters to have a look at, and BSB pilots Tarran Mackenzie, Jason O’Halloran and Matt Truelove will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with the public.

As an added bonus, riders wanting to show off their prized R1s are being invited to join the new 2020 Yamaha YZF-R1 on track for a parade around the iconic Snetterton 300 circuit. Those wishing to take part are being asked to confirm their bike's registration number and be on site and registered with Yamaha’s team by 9:45 ready for the parade which is scheduled to start at 10:15.

If you want to join the party and take part in the parade, you better be quick as space is limited. Click here and register – the system might ask you to set up an MSV login first though.
