The all-new Ducati V21L MotoE bike has arrived ahead of the 2025 season opener in France on 10 May, and it has received a number of technical updates.

The new 2025 model arrives more advanced than the previous two incarnations of the V21L, the first of which landed in 2023. Its new battery create a higher energy output of 5 Ah compared to the previous 4.2 Ah.

The higher output, while a sign of innovation, has led to a reduction in the number of units, going from 1152 to 960. The bike's power and range remains unchanged.

In a bid not to alter the weight distribution of the V21L, Ducati has made a significant change as the Borgo Panigale brand has removed every sixth cell. What that has done is created the lightest V21L to date as it gets a weight saving of 8.2kg.

According to simulations by Ducati, the reduction in weight could offer an improvement in lap time of between three and four tenths of a second depending on the circuit.

Traction Control is now adjustable turn by turn as each team on the grid can play around with three different mappings. The V21L has also been lengthened by 4mm thanks to different steering bushings, which should make braking more stable.

Additionally, the swingarm pin is now height-adjustable which will give teams the possibility of keeping the chain pull effect unaltered when changing the gear ratio by replacing the crown.

The changes don’t stop there, as, from the second round of the championship in the Netherlands, all the V21Ls will be fitted with a new rear rim that will again reduce the weight of the bike by 600g.

Ducati says this is “particularly significant as it relates to unsprung masses, with notable benefits in terms of nimbleness and handling.” Thanks to this latest update, the total weight of the 2025 version of the V21L drops from the previous 225kg to 216.2kg.

The 2025 season begins at Le Mans on 10 May, and concludes at round seven on 8 November, with Portimao playing host to the finale.
