With the increasing popularity among motorcyclists for auxiliary electrical devices such as SatNavs, Smartphones and action cameras, there also comes a need for extra power sources to keep them charged.

And, as many motorcycles still come without charging sockets – or not enough of them – accessory charging points have become increasingly popular.

Oxford Products offer the EL102 Dual Port USB charger, which is a simple, twin port USB type A charger dock which fits onto most bikes and is available via Machine Mart for £34.99. And, with a high output of 2 Amps, the EL102 will easily charge compatible mobile phones, action cameras and more.

Oxford say the EL102 charger been designed not just for motorcycles but for a variety of outdoor vehicles such as ATVs, snowmobiles and even caravans, and as such is designed to be weatherproof. Accordingly, it comes with a heavy-duty
weatherproof cap to keep the sockets dry when clicked into place if raining. However, you should also note that it is not designed to be used whilst raining, that is, when the cap isn’t fitted and the sockets are in use and thus exposed to the
elements.

In terms of fitting, the EL102 is easily clamped in place on tubular handlebars up to a diameter of 25mm but can also be mounted on your bike’s mirror stem using the adaptors provided. Obviously when choosing where to mount the EL102 you should take into consideration the location of both your intended device(s) and the length of your USB charging cable. You should also check the steering doesn’t foul or impede the device or cable routing and, if necessary, secure cables in position with some cable ties.

It also comes with a long, 1.2m wiring loom, a 10 Amp standard blade fuse and Oxford recommend the electrical connection is done to an ignition switched live feed to prevent battery drain.
