Laser 4854 Motorcycle Tyre Lever 300mm review
The Laser 300mm motorcycle tyre lever is a great, affordable example of an effective tool which makes biking jobs easy and thus saves you money

There was a time when most motorcyclists changed their own tyres, but it remains a relatively simple job if you’ve got the right tools, can be very rewarding to do and, with garages or professional tyre fitters now typically charging £30-40 to change one tyre, it can also save you plenty.
The key tool required is, of course, a good quality tyre lever – or preferably two. And Laser’s 4854 300mm tyre lever, as available through Machine Mart, is a great and highly rated example. Your bike should also have a centre or paddock stand to enable easy rear wheel removal. A foot pump or compressor will be necessary to inflate the new tyre. While for complete peace of mind wheel rim protectors (available separately) are also recommended.
Laser’s 300mm long motorcycle tyre lever costs just £13.19 as we write (so two certainly won’t break the bank), have been designed to reduce the risk of damaging your bike’s wheel rims when fitting or removing tyres and can also be used for the tyres on other types of leisure vehicles.
The Laser 4854 300mm motorcycle tyre lever is made from drop forged steel so is very solid, strong and durable (buyers have commented that it pleasingly doesn’t flex, even with high leverage). It’s specifically designed for use on motorcycle and scooter tyres and is also usefully fitted with a moulded, soft-grip handle which makes applying heavy, sustained pressure much easier on the hands than it would be with a traditional bare metal lever.
The other, ‘business’ end has been designed to minimise the risk of rim damage – although we’d still recommend using rim protectors. While its length – 300mm – was chosen to provide the ideal balance of leverage and portability for the average home mechanic, although it is worth noting that a longer 355mm Laser lever, the 5231, is also available at Machine Mart for £14.98, for extra leverage.
