Overall Review

A great fun bike, with little to recommend it in the way of practical features. Quite good on fuel. If ridden sensibly, 35mpg is easily attainable, which is on a par with the Yamaha Fazer, Triumph Speed Triple, and significantly better than the Triumph Rocket - I know this because I ride regularly with a group of friends who have these bikes. The word is that Yamaha only ever intended to produce 2,500 units, and that it will not be available after those have sold, which is expected to be by the end of 2015. So it is destined to become very exclusive in the future. My 2009, mint condition example with 900 miles cost me £10,000, which is a bargain. Accept it for what it is, which is a bike for bringing out on Sunny weekends for short 80 mile or so blasts, and you'll be fine. Don't run away with the idea that it'll make a good daily commuter or long distance tourer. IT WON'T. Have it as a second bike for special days, which is what mine is. This is a bike which exists for one reason and one reason only, which is to have fun on in a way you won't experience on many other bikes. It's a bit of an indulgence, but hey, some people smoke, some piss their money away on booze, many do both. I don't. I just have my VMAX.

Huge fun, immense power, super stable, handles well

Low speed handling, tank range, pillion accomodation
