Volonaut has announced the price of its flying bike - and as you can expect, it isn’t cheap!

Volonaut has released a second video showing its Airbike in action, and to combat the naysayers out there, it is claimed to be ‘raw’ footage with unedited audio of the flying machine.

The first video of the Airbike was eye-opening, although with some of the on-board action being filmed with Ista360 cameras, which boast best-in-class image stabilisation, some were calling the footage fake, and pointing to the smooth horizon-locking as a clue that the machine was hanging from wires. This second video might go some way to turning the page on that, as it is filmed from an observer's perspective, and with the added bonus of raw audio of the machine in flight.

The machine is the brainchild of a Polish inventor called Tomasz Patan, who utilised carbon fibre extensively in its design and construction. He also utilised 3d printing techniques and lightweight materials, ending up with a prototype that is claimed to be seven times lighter than a conventional motorbike.

That lightness, added to its jet propulsion system, means it has a claimed top speed of more than 120mph, with Patan giving the machine its own computer-controlled stabilisation system, just like a much smaller quadcopter. It’s this system which is key in making the machine as easy to fly as possible, with Patan also stating that it has self-hovering potential thanks to the technology.

While the Volonaut website still doesn’t tell us any more information regarding the machine, such as flight times, range, flight ceiling, or how fast it can climb, we do at least know the price… Should you want to place a Volonaut Airbike in your garage, you’ll need to be shelling out $880,000. So it’s very expensive, although it is also an interesting take on the theme of a flying motorcycle. It also doesn’t have the whirling propellers of doom - like some other flying bike concepts do - meaning it seems a little bit safer than some.
