The Volonaut Airbike is a Star Wars Speeder Made Real
Hailed as the future of personal transport, the Volonaut Airbike is a single-person flying machine powered by a jet engine

A startup has launched the first video of what it claims is the future of personal transport, as the Volonaut Airbike blasts through the forest on its first test flight.
The machine is the brainchild of a Polish inventor called Tomasz Patan, who utilised carbon fibre extensively in its design and construction. He also called upon 3d printing techniques, ending up with a prototype that is claimed to be seven times lighter than a conventional motorbike.

That lightness, added to its jet propulsion system, means it has a claimed top speed of more than 120mph, with Patan giving the machine its own computer-controlled stabilisation system. It’s this system which is key in making the machine as easy to fly as possible, with Patan also stating that it has self-hovering potential thanks to the technology.

What the Volonaut website doesn’t tell us is any more information regarding the machine, such as flight times, range, flight ceiling, or how fast it can climb. It is, though, an interesting take on the theme of a flying motorcycle, and as it doesn’t have the whirling propellers of doom - like some other flying bike concepts have - it seems a little bit safer than some.

It also doesn’t tell us if/when the machine could arrive on the market, or how much it’ll cost. There is a contact us section on the website, though, so if you are looking for a fun new way to crash into things, drop Volonaut a message; they’ve got just the toy for you.
